CLASSES

A horse can only be entered once in each class at a show, and only 2 different divisions maximum with the exception of the Lead Line and Open Beginner divisions- 2 riders may use the same horse in these divisions ONLY!

PERFORMANCE RULES
- NO BULLYING – you will be asked to leave the grounds, 2nd occurrence, you will be asked to leave for the season, without refunds. If executive deem necessary, it could involve life ban from RBR.
- ZERO TOLLERANCE for ABUSE to either human or horse – you will be asked to leave and banned for remainder of the season, without refunds! If executive deem necessary, it could involve life ban from RBR.
- No swearing or harassment will be tolerated on the show grounds, in the show pen or outside of it. This is a family atmosphere.
- No one shall be under the influence of alcohol/drugs, or anything that may impair an individual.
- 18 years old and under as of Jan 1, of show year MUST wear helmets when mounted. RBR encourages helmets to be worn by all participants
- 18 years old and under as of Jan 1, of show year will not be permitted to ride a stallion, under any circumstance.
- Parent or Legal Guardian are the only ones to sign completed registration forms and waivers for those under the age of 18.
- Proper collared show attire, English or Western, must be worn while mounted, hats, helmets for 18 yr old and under competitors, boots, show attire. NO spaghetti straps or strapless tops are permitted.
- Only the registered rider to the horse for the show for that day is permitted to be on that horse. No doubling with friends or allowing others to try riding your horse. Insurance will not cover them if they get hurt.
- All equipment/tack must be in good condition.
- Sharing of horses – Horse cannot be ridden by 2 different riders in the same division. A horse may be ridden up to 2 times MAX in games classes, and must be in different divisions with each rider. EXCEPTION- Beginner Games division may have up to 2 riders ride the same horse in that division
- NO cross entries of divisions for the same rider/horse combo in the same show day.
- Year end award eligibility - competitor must compete in 75% of the posted scheduled shows ie: 2 of 3, 3 of 4. If only two shows in the year, competitor must compete in 100% of shows.
- If Rain date is used, please make sure to attend it to get your 3rd show in if you don't already have 3 completed.
- If you horse “may” kick, or does kick, wear a red ribbon in the tail. This is courteous to others to avoid a dangerous situation.
- Know your tail ribbons as this is an easy way to keep yourself and horse out of trouble!
- Our executive is strictly volunteer based and as such we do ask for a one year commitment. This would include, at minimum, attending 2 out of 3 executive meetings, as well as helping out at 3 out of 5 horse shows (in office, with ring/gate) and assisting with the year end banquet, awards, set up and take down, to ensure the work is shared by all. In the event that this commitment is not executed, remaining executive may fill that position without notice.
WEATHER
- Heat rule in effect for temperatures with humidity at or above 30 degrees C.
- Heat rule states that collared short sleeve shirts can be worn rather than long sleeve when temperature reaches 30 degrees or at the discretion of executive.
- RBR will run in the rain but will be at the discretion of executive who will determine safety of pen for all riders. In the event of dangerous footing or heavy rain executive will notify of cancellation via Facebook page and website.
- Lightening Policy will state at first bolt all riders must dismount. Show will stop until 20 minutes following the last bolt.
- In the event of snow, executive will determine safety of footing and proceed in same steps as rain in the event it is deemed to be unsafe for riders and horses.
DIVISIONS
Performance Divisions:
- a) ADULT– 19 years of age (as of January 1st) and older
b) YOUTH –18 of age or under ( as of January 1st)

CLASSES

- All Entries are to be paid by cash at show ONLY!
- Ribbons will be awarded for 1-5th placing, only if requested. Exception is Green horse Division, no ribbons will be awarded.
- No cross entries for divisions by Rider/Horse teams.
- Performance Classes: Ribbons to be picked up at the announcers booth
- Showmanship for all divisions, except green horse
- Pleasure (English & Western combined) for all divisions, except green horse
- Command (English & Western combined) for all divisions, except green horse
- Games Classes: Ribbons to be picked up at the announcer’s booth
- Barrels for all divisions, except green horse
- Poles for all divisions, except green horse
- Down & Back for all divisions, except green horse
- If looking for times or placing after class is completed you MUST wait until entire class (all divisions) are complete. Please DO NO BOTHER THE ANNOUNCERS!!
ENTRIES

- A horse will not be allowed to compete unless proper entry has been made, and both horse and rider have fulfilled all rules prior to the event.
- Entries MUST be done online. NO ENTRIES accepted at the show grounds.
- Rules for Games to be posted at the Announcers’ Booth
- Horses can do NO MORE than 2 Runs per games classes but must be in different divisions if sharing within a family. Example; Youth and Adult – NOT 2 Adults, exception is that same horse can also be used by 2 riders in lead line and beginner games.
- Competitors 3 years of age, or younger on Jan 1 of show year MUST have a horse handler AND rider spotter. Rider spotter will be permitted for any age in the Lead Line and Beginner Divisions only
- Points will be awarded to Rider/Horse team. If horse must be replaced during the calendar year, it will be allowed once, and the new horse will have to be used the remainder of the calendar year… written notice must be provided to the Executive for points to be transferred to new horse.
- If entered in a game’s division, and it is found that you can run a faster division time within any of the shows, that horse and rider combination will be bumped up to the faster division.
- If found in the first show, results will be recalculated for points standings as if ran in the faster division.
- If it is found by the 2nd show that the horse and rider combo can run in the faster division. They will be bumped. Points from the first show will be carried over, and the results of the second show will be recalculated to figure out true standings.

CONDUCT
- Horse MUST enter and leave the ring under control, at a walk, AT ALL TIMES!! You MUST be inside the arena before starting class!! Failure to do so will result in a waring for first offence, disqualification and ask to leave premises upon second offence.
- All horses entered in a class to be judged must assemble at the entrance to the arena in ample time for the judging to start promptly and to continue without delay and shall remain there until dismissed by the Judge or Ring Steward or otherwise directed.
- Second offence of NOT walking into the ring under control, will result in automatic disqualification for the remainder of the day with no refunds.
- Whipping/spurring in front of the cinch, immediate disqualification
- Any rider interfering with, colliding with, or cutting off other riders will be disqualified.
- In all classes, any rider and/or horse which falls during performance is automatically disqualified. A rider falls when he must vault or mount in the ring. A horse has fallen when the shoulder or haunch touches the ground.
- When riding in any performance class, the rider cannot hold onto the saddle or horn with the freehand.
- Failure to wear a number or the correct number in a visible manner will result in disqualification.
- 60 second rule in effect… 60 seconds to get horse and rider in pen after name/number announced. Name will only be called 3 times total. Automatic disqualification if not in the pen, and no refunds on class fees.
- A 5-point sliding system will be used, awarding one point per entry shown up to 5 horses.
- Points for Year-End awards will count only if the horse’s exhibitor is a member at the time the horse earns the points.
- Year-end individual class and overall ties will be broken by counting the greatest number of firsts, then seconds until the tie is broken. And if a tie all the way through, number of shows attended will make the final determination of winner.
- Competitors must compete in 75% of the horse shows to be eligible for year end awards. ie: 2 of 3. Exception to this is if there are only 2 shows and then you must attend 100% to be eligible for year end awards.
- Awards must be picked up at the year end function, or the winner must have arrangements to have their award picked up by someone else. RBR will NOT hold on to awards. Unclaimed awards or value of the unclaimed awards will be refunded back to RBR for RBR to use as deemed fit.
HORSES
- Unless otherwise specified, ponies are considered horses.
- A horse must be serviceably sound and properly groom to be eligible for any RBR approved class
- All horses doctored in anyway, improperly or unfairly prepared, or tampered with before coming to the show ring will be disqualified and forfeit all points earned for the current season and RBR membership, until reinstated by the Board of Directors.
- The age of a horse will be as of January 1st of the year foaled.
- Stallions may not be shown by any exhibitor less than 19 years of age as of January 1st of the current year.
TACK
- Horses to be shown in serviceable western or English tack.
- Martingales and tie-downs are prohibited in all performance classes.
- No mixed tack – either English Tack or Western Tack. Ex; English bridle and western saddle.
- Any Junior horse or pony, 5 years and under may be shown in a snaffle bit or bosal with two hands in all Performance classes.
- Bosals used by a Junior horse or pony must be flexible and may have flexible cable core but absolutely no rigid material under jaw or over nose no matter how padded or covered.
- Horses five years old and younger may be shown in a snaffle bit, curb bit, half-breed or spade bit. All curb bits must be free of mechanical device and be considered a standard western bit. Slip or Gag bits and donut and flat polo mouth pieces are NOT acceptable.
- When a curb bit is used, a curb strap or curb chain is required, but must meet the approval of the judge, be at least one-half inch in width and lie flat against the jaw of the horse. A broken strap or chain is not necessarily cause for disqualification.
- English bits may be a snaffle (no shank), Kimberwick, Pelham and or full bridle (two reins), all with cavesson nosebands and browbands. Bits of any style featuring mouthpieces with catherdrals, donuts, prongs or sharp material may be cause for disqualification. If a curb bit is used, the chain must be at least ½ inch in width and flat against the jaw of the horse.
- In timed events, any humane type of bit or hackamore may be used on horses of all ages.
- Bitless bridles will be permitted, must be split reins in Performance class. If using a Bitless Bridle at all, must be in a Bitless Bridle for the entire show.
ATTIRE
- Rider to be dressed in suitable western attire including western hat or protective headgear. Long sleeve collared shirt and long pants. NO spaghetti straps or strapless tops are allowed.
- Proper footwear, with a heel, must be worn by all exhibitors.
- All clothing must be neat and clean.
- Judges or RBR executive, at their discretion, may make decision to adjust attire due to weather related conditions. In event of said decision, a collared short sleeve shirt may be worn.
- All those 18 years and under must wear helmets. Helmets are highly recommended to be worn by all participants!
GAMING RULES
- No excessive whipping/spurring
- No whipping in front of cinch/girth
- 60 sec rule is in effect. Rider and horse must be in the pen within 60 seconds of name being called to enter. If not, you will be disqualified with no return of funds. This is to help keep the show moving forward.
- Games and times - if you entered as a beginner/intermediate for games, and you run faster than the posted time allowed for that level, within in the first 2 shows you will be bumped to the next level up (and you will keep your previous points, you will just be entered in the high level from then on).
- RBR saddle club is allowing bitless bridles to be used in competing. You must always have complete control of your horse! PLEASE NOTE: This rule applies to RBR ONLY. Do not expect to go to another club or fair or Association and compete in a bitless. We are opening our doors to accommodate all. We want to encourage more people to come and play!
- JACKPOT – Jackpot is a cash class only! No points for year end, payout is equal pay out in a 3D/4D format pending on number of entries. Payout will be at the end of the class. (or within a few minutes of the end of the class).
